The Beautiful West Pier - Dear to my heart for many reasons.. I was blessed to grow up around this area of the Pier, for the first several years of my life, and it was actually here at the beach walk facing the pier, that I started to sell my Feel Good Images, as part of a regular weekend Art & Craft market back in 1998, I had already been selling Feel Good Images prints, but this was my first official residency for the next few years.. which felt very symbolic, as my dear father had once owned and ran what is now known as the Regency Restaurant across the road, and my Aunty Mary & Uncle Tony had the Melrose Restaurant across the road for 50 years, and so it felt very special to now be selling my feel good images, right by this majestic structure, where I once swam around as a child. During this time of selling my images there, part of weekly rent money went to the West Pier Trust fund, with the hope and intention that eventually this would go towards the restoration of what was once such a beautiful pier. Eventually the West Pier Trust was successfully in securing Lottery funding for the redevelopment of the the Pier, with the hope that it would become more of arts based pier, with possibly a theatre and some lovely restaurants. It was such a shame when the last of this beautiful structure burned down after a series of two significant fires. To me this image symbolises the beauty and special charm this pier had for so many us.. I have played around with the colours, as I thought it would be fun to jazz it up. I love the beautiful rainbow.. and hope this iconic image inspires a warm feeling as a homage to the incredible structure.
